Features

Less size. More peace of mind.

The details that matter stay in your hands, from the first import to the final export.

Offline, from start to finish.

Your PDFs are processed locally on Mac, iPhone, or iPad. No account, no upload, and no waiting for a connection.

Keep what makes a PDF useful.

Optimise document structure, fonts, and images while preserving searchable text and vectors. Your original files stay untouched.

See it before you save it.

Before exporting, view the original and result with continuous scrolling, page navigation and zoom. Select and copy text where document permissions allow. Side-by-side comparison is available on Mac and in wide iPad layouts; text search is available in the iPhone / iPad app.

Your file. Your balance.

Choose a preset, or set JPEG quality and target DPI independently. Start with Balanced and adjust to suit your document.

Lossless keeps image encoding and resolution. Other modes may change image quality. A 100% JPEG setting is not lossless.

How it works

From import to a lighter PDF.

Mac

  1. 01

    Add your PDFs

Drag files into the app, use Add PDF, or open them from Finder.

  2. 02

    Choose and compress

Select a preset or your own quality and DPI settings, then start the batch.

  3. 03

    Compare and export

Check the result and export one file or all smaller results to a folder you choose.

iPhone / iPad

  1. 01

    Add your PDFs

Select one or more PDFs in Files, open a PDF from another app, or drag PDFs into the app on iPad.

  2. 02

    Choose and compress

Choose a preset or set JPEG quality and DPI, then start batch compression. Individual tasks can also be retried.

  3. 03

    Compare and export

Browse, zoom, search, and copy text. Compare side by side in wide layouts, then save one or all results to Files or use the system share sheet.

Imported copies, tasks, and results stay available between launches until you clear them. Keep the app in the foreground for long tasks; background time is limited.

A few things worth knowing.

Will every PDF become smaller?

No. Savings depend on the document. Already optimised PDFs may not shrink further. The app only keeps smaller results that pass its validation checks.

Will my original file change?

Mac — No. The app works on a local copy and exports separately. It refuses to overwrite an existing file; batch exports add a number when names conflict. Export your results before quitting.

iPhone / iPad — No. Compression uses an imported copy and preserves the original. Copies and results remain available between launches until you remove them in the app. Files you have exported are unaffected by that cleanup.

Which PDFs are not supported?

Mac 1.3 — Certificate-encrypted, digitally signed, fillable-form, damaged and zero-page PDFs are unsupported. Password-protected PDFs can be processed with the correct password. The app does not add OCR or compress to a specified file size.

iPhone / iPad — Encrypted, digitally signed, fillable, damaged, and zero-page PDFs are skipped. The app does not add OCR or compress to a specified target file size.

Can I use the Mac app for free?

From Mac version 1.3, the free allowance is a total of 30 successful PDF compressions. Failed or cancelled tasks and files that do not get smaller do not count. After using the allowance, a one-time purchase unlocks unlimited compression permanently, with no subscription.

Free-use records stay on this Mac. The allowance is cumulative and does not reset daily. Customers who paid for version 1.0 retain lifetime access.

How does the Mac app handle PDFs that need a password?

Mac 1.3 — Enter the correct password when prompted to preview and compress a protected PDF. Exports retain the original password, encryption method and permissions. Batch imports prompt for each password; you can retry after cancelling. Passwords are used only for the current task, never saved in settings or logs.

How do Lossless, JPEG quality and target DPI differ?

Lossless preserves image encoding and resolution while still optimising structure, duplicate resources and fonts that can be safely subset. Custom JPEG quality is 0–100%; target DPI can keep the original resolution or be set to 72–600. Only suitable images are downsampled; low-resolution images are never enlarged. JPEG 100% is not lossless.

How do I restore purchases or redeem an offer code on Mac?

Mac — Have a valid offer code? Redeem it from the main screen: macOS 15 or later opens Apple's offer code redemption window; macOS 14 provides App Store redemption instructions. Existing customers can also use Restore Purchases.
