PRIVACY, IN PLAIN LANGUAGE

Privacy policy

Your files stay on your Mac.

This policy covers the PDFCompress macOS app and its official website. PDFCompress is developed by Mingyang Fan. The app processes PDFs locally; visiting this website is a separate online activity.

Effective date

01

App data and tracking

The app does not send your PDFs, filenames, or app usage to us. It has no accounts, advertising, tracking, or analytics SDKs. Its bundled compression libraries run locally and do not upload documents.

02

Files and local preferences

You grant access by choosing, dropping, or opening files and selecting export destinations. The app creates local working copies, temporary processing files, and local worker logs. Compression presets, JPEG quality, and target DPI are saved in macOS UserDefaults on your device.

03

Retention and deletion

Imported copies and completed results remain available during the session. Removing tasks or clearing the queue attempts to delete their local files. Cancelling attempts to clean up the current processing files; earlier completed results remain available to export. Normal quitting attempts to delete the session workspace. Crashes or cleanup failures may leave temporary files; immediate or secure erasure is not guaranteed. Saved preferences persist between launches. Exported files remain in your chosen location until you delete them.

04

Document contents and cloud folders

Compression is not anonymization: metadata, attachments, and other existing document contents may remain in the result. Review a document before sharing it. If you import from or export to a folder managed by iCloud Drive or another cloud service, that service may synchronize files under your settings and its own policy; PDFCompress does not perform that upload.

05

This website and Cloudflare

This website has no app-provided analytics, advertising scripts, remote fonts, forms, cookies, or browser-storage preferences. Cloudflare hosts and delivers it and may process IP addresses, request headers, and other connection information for delivery and security. Website requests are separate from PDF processing in the app. Cloudflare describes its processing in its privacy policy.

Other services

macOS, the App Store, your email provider, and any cloud storage you choose have their own data practices and privacy policies. Their services are separate from the app’s local compression. PDFCompress does not integrate third-party advertising or analytics services.

08

Children’s privacy

PDFCompress is a general-purpose document utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. If a child has sent personal information through support, contact verneauorane104@gmail.com so we can address it and delete it as appropriate.

Policy changes and contact

We will publish changes on this page and update the effective date. Material changes in data handling will be described in the revised policy. For privacy questions or requests, contact Mingyang Fan at verneauorane104@gmail.com. All language versions describe the same practices.
